Ridge Lift
Januari 3
We started the new year with some shots of Ristafallet (pictures in the gallery). It's a waterfall in Sweden, not yet completely frozen even though it's almost -20°C.
Overtime the ice and snow are slowly making the sound of the waterfall more quiet and peaceful.
We also visited Tännforsen waterfall (the picture below), which is the biggest waterfall in Sweden.
However, for the first time ever I experienced something called "Ridge lift". When the wind blows over mountains it tends to be deflected upwards generating a zone of rising air directly above the slope.
Strong frozen winds and moisture in the air from the waterfall made it almost impossible to maneuver, and I was forced to land. The propellers of the drone were almost completely covered in ice that built up during the short flight.
May this be a warning to anyone who flies in the same conditions, and be very cautious and always prioritize the safety of others and yourself. ❄
