Aviations

October 28

On the first day of this shoot, we used an 800mm telescope lens to capture airplanes taking off and landing. The weather was clear, and the air was crisp, perfect for what we needed.

The next morning started at 5:00 AM, as we filmed close-up shots of a parked airplane using a Red Gemini on a tripod and mini dolly, plus a Red Epic on a DJI Ronin 2 mounted on a motor crane. We wanted to capture the sunrise and reflective highlights on the airplane to make it look cinematic. I’ve worked with a motor crane once before, and while it takes time to set up, it’s a lot of fun. I’m grateful to have been part of this project and gained experience working at an airport.
